Paris’ attractiveness in international litigation is improved by the creation and the organization of specific chambers in its commercial court and court of appeal. These chambers will have jurisdiction for business litigations involving foreign companies and/or when foreign law applies.
They will be composed of experienced judges competent in foreign law and especially in common law. Debates may be held in English with a translation in French. Judgements can be rendered in French with an English translation and will be recognized in EU. This is a major opportunity for non-French companies which used to appoint London courts whose decisions will not be automatically enforceable in EU after Brexit.
