About act legal

Our Amsterdam office is part of act legal, a growing European law firm with over 400 professionals across 19 countries, specialising in property and corporate law and related legal areas – including Franchise & Commercial Contracts.

Our clients are national and international companies in sectors such as retail, food, manufacturing, e-commerce and platform models. We advise on franchise models, distribution models and retail networks, and represent clients in proceedings before the courts and tribunals.

You will be joining a driven team that analyses issues thoroughly, provides sound advice and seeks workable solutions in a pragmatic manner.

Who are you?

You are curious, analytically strong and enjoy working together to get to the heart of a legal issue. You are passionate about franchising and commercial contracts and feel at home in an open, informal working atmosphere. You possess:

  • sharp analytical skills;
  • good communication skills;
  • a strong personality;
  • and commercial acumen.

What do we offer you?

From day one, you’ll be fully involved. No watching from the sidelines – you’ll be right at the heart of the action. You’ll work closely with the solicitors in the Franchise & Commercial Contracts department, as well as with colleagues from other departments: this way, you’ll learn the full scope of the profession.

In practical terms: you’ll develop franchise structures, draft distribution and agency agreements, negotiate commercial terms and litigate on matters of performance, termination and damages. One week you might be delving into a new distribution model; the next, you’ll be negotiating the renewal of a franchise model.
Our team is small and close-knit: two partners and, as things stand, a vacancy for a trainee solicitor. Short lines of communication, plenty of personal responsibility, and you’ll be directly involved in the strategy for a case.

Furthermore, act legal offers excellent terms of employment and plenty of scope for your personal development – with extras such as a weekly boot camp, an annual skiing trip, office drinks and department outings.
