María Gracia Rubio has over 35 years of experience as a financial regulation lawyer, also advising financial services providers and the Fintech sector. She has been recognised for more than a decade by Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, Chambers Fintech, and Legal 500. She began her career in private practice before joining the Spanish securities regulator (CNMV) in 1988, where she gained first-hand insight into the supervisory and regulatory framework governing financial markets. She later founded her own boutique firm specialising in financial regulation, which was subsequently integrated into Baker & McKenzie in 2001. At Baker & McKenzie, she led the Financial Regulation practice in Madrid and was a member of the European Financial Services steering group until 2012. She is currently Of Counsel at act legal Spain.
