As of 1 April 2026, the EGRO Mediengruppe will acquire substantial parts of the publishing division of Druck- und Pressehaus Naumann GmbH & Co. KG (DPN Group), thereby safeguarding 950 jobs. The long-established regional media company, headquartered in Gelnhausen, Hesse, encountered financial difficulties in 2025 due to challenging market conditions in the print and regional media sector. Following the court order for provisional self-administration in March 2025, an intensive restructuring process was initiated with the objective of preserving the group’s journalistic presence in the region and fundamentally realigning its economic base. As early as autumn 2025, a solution was achieved for approximately 100 employees in the Elzet Verlag and ZVG Distribution GmbH business units. The transaction now completed with EGRO Mediengruppe represents the next significant milestone. It includes all publishing activities related to the daily newspaper and weekly paper portfolios, associated digital publishing products, the digital agency dpn360, as well as prepress operations, logistics, and distribution services. Within the distribution area, titles such as the Gelnhäuser Neue Zeitung, Mittelhessen-Bote, and Gießener Zeitung are published, with a combined circulation exceeding 400,000 copies. The digital platforms together generate approximately 1 million visits per month. The contract printing business and the company’s real estate assets will remain with DPN and will continue to be operated.
