Successful Restructuring: Müller and Bauer Secures Strong Investor in LIMBURGER – The Packaging Group

With more than 125 years of corporate history, the long-established metal packaging manufacturer Müller & Bauer, based in Metzingen, is entering a new chapter. As part of a transfer restructuring, LIMBURGER – The Packaging Group has acquired the company’s operating business, thereby continuing its long-standing tradition. The company, which specializes in metal packaging made of aluminum and tinplate for the food, chemical, and cosmetics industries, filed for self-administration proceedings in October 2025 due to a significant downturn in demand within the packaging sector. The primary cause of the financial distress was the substantial decline in industry demand. Operations at the Metzingen site will continue under the newly established MB Metallverpackungen GmbH. The product portfolio will be integrated into LIMBURGER – The Packaging Group, a leading European family-owned company in the metal packaging sector, which is strategically expanding its portfolio through this transaction. Approximately 60 of the company’s 91 jobs will be retained.
