MoldTecs GmbH, a regional manufacturer of precision plastic components for the automotive and supplier industry (Sonneberg / Bad Harzburg), is undergoing restructuring under debtor-in-possession proceedings. MoldTecs looks back on decades of tradition in the production of technical plastics and precision components, with the company’s roots dating back to the GDR era. After German reunification in the early 1990s, the company was transformed into a modern corporate structure and has since supplied well-known customers in the automotive industry with intake systems, valves, lines, and other plastic components for powertrain systems. The company’s crisis is the result of a combination of factors: declining demand in the automotive sector, international price pressure from competitors in Asia and Eastern Europe, as well as rising material and energy costs. With the provisional debtor-in-possession proceedings ordered by the Meiningen Local Court on May 6, 2026, a structured restructuring process has begun, aimed at stabilizing the business and rapidly repositioning it for the future. Management continues to run day-to-day operations independently. The wages and salaries of the 530 employees are secured by insolvency benefits for the months of May, June, and July. Production and customer deliveries continue without interruption.
